Jewish Community of the Outer Banks

The Jewish Community of the Outer Banks (JCOB) welcomes you.

The JCOB community includes:

  • permanent residents of Dare and Currituck Counties living as far north as Corolla and Moyock and as far south as Rodanthe, Avon and Buxton
  • families and individuals who own second homes in the OBX
  • vacationers or anyone wishing to connect with the Jewish community while in the Outer Banks.

The JCOB is unaffiliated but uses Reform prayer books for daily and High Holiday services.  We invite you to join us at our casual Shabbat services, held on the third Saturday morning (a Torah service) or the third Friday night of each month (click on Monthly Services on the menu to the left), or at any of our other activities and celebrations.  While we do not have a synagogue or a rabbi, George Lurie, our lay leader, has been in charge of all of our religious activities since 2003.  The JCOB purchased a Torah in 2012 and uses it for all religious services.

We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation.  We remain a volunteer group which welcomes everyone's ideas, creativity and participation.  Come discover us for yourself.
